    More details about the country

Suriname, alternatively known as Dutch Guiana/Netherlands Guiana/the Republic of Suriname/Republiek Suriname, is a sovereign country found on South America’s northern coast. It is one of the smallest in terms of the total land area due to its 63,251 square miles of territory. It has an economy that is strongly dependent on the independent state’s extensive reserves of natural resources such as bauxite. The capital of the country is Paramaribo and can be found on the Suriname River about nine miles inland from the country’s coast on the Atlantic Ocean. Suriname shares its borders with the countries of French Guiana, Brazil, and Guyana.

At a glance, Suriname would appear to be an unsuitable location to study abroad due to its location. However, the country can serve as a stepping stone in attaining higher education and obtaining an academic degree. While the country does have a relatively limited list of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compromise by providing a rigorous and thorough training on a variety of subjects such as Business, Accounting, Management, Finance & Banking, Administration, Information Technologies, Education, Engineering, Agriculture, Sociology, History, Psychology, Law & Jurisprudence, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Economics, and Environmental Studies. Furthermore, the country is among the sovereign states in which tuition fees tend to be relatively less costly compared to countries such as Brazil. In addition to previously-mentioned advantages, Suriname is a suitable location to participate in internships and volunteer programs, particularly in the fields of Business, Education, Ecology, Agriculture, and Health. In addition, the country is a suitable location to practice and learn Dutch due to the country’s colonial past.
