    More details about the country

Sri Lanka, alternatively known as Ceylon, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka/Ilangai Jananayaka Socialisa Kudiarasu/Sri Lanka Prajatantrika Samajavadi Janarajaya, is a sovereign island and country found in the Indian Ocean. It is segregated from the peninsular part of India by the Palk Strait. It is a country situated at essential trade routes, with the capital and largest commercial center being Colombo. It is a country that has gained its independence in 1948 and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations in addition to being a relatively popular tourist destination due to its diverse and appealing nature and culture.

Sri Lanka also serves as a worthwhile and interesting location to study abroad. To begin with, the country has a rather extensive list of accredited and internationally recognized universities such as the University Of Colombo, the University Of Peradeniya, the University Of Sri Jayawardenapura, the University Of Kelaniya, and the University Of Moratuwa. In a similar manner, a relatively broad range of subjects can be studied at the country’s institutions of higher education, including Management, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Humanities, Administration, Accounting, IT, Finance & Banking, and Technology. In addition to the previously-mentioned advantages, Sri Lanka is a suitable location to study and practice one or more foreign languages such as English, Tamil, and Sinhala. This is due to the latter two languages being the country’s official language, while English is often used for everyday communication and during certain study courses. In addition, students can hone practical skills such as analyzing situations, gathering data and interpersonal communications via participation in volunteer and internship programs, especially in the fields of Medicine, Law, and Political Science.
