    More details about the country

South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea or Taehan Min’guk, is a sovereign country located in East Asia and occupies the Korean peninsula’s southern portion, taking up about 45% of the total land area of the peninsula. It shares borders with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and has coastlines on the Sea of Japan, the East China Sea, as well as the Yellow Sea. The capital as well as cultural/economic/political center of South Korea is Seoul (Sŏul, Gyeongseong, Hansŏng, Hanseong, Hanyang, Kyŏngsŏng, Sŏul, Sŏul-t’ŭkpyŏlsi). The city can be found on the Han-gang River within the northwestern region of the country about 37 miles inland from the coastline on the Yellow Sea.

South Korea is often recommended as a tourist destination worth visiting and exploring. However, it should also be considered a suitable location to study abroad. To begin with, the country has a rather extensive and diverse list of accredited and internationally recognized institutions of higher education, including the Seoul National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology, Korea University, Pohang University of Science And Technology, Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, and Ewha Womans University, which are featured in the 2020 QS World University Rankings. Similarly, a rather broad range of subjects can be studied in the sovereign state’s universities, including fields of study such as Sociology, Education, Engineering, Arts, Business, Administration, Management, Humanities, Design, and Health. Tuition fees within the country can vary greatly and the costs of living tend to be moderate; however, students can work part-time as a means to counterbalance and prevent expenses from becoming a setback. In addition, the country is a suitable location to practice English as many study programs are available in this tongue. Also, South Korea is a suitable location to participate in volunteer and internship programs in the fields of Technology, Administration, Business, Political Sciences, Healthcare, Education, and others.
