    More details about the country

The Solomon Islands, alternatively known as Islas de Solomón, is an archipelago and country located in the southwestern region of the Pacific Ocean. It is comprised of two chains of coral atolls and volcanic islands in Melanesia. The capital and largest city of the country, Honiara, can be found on Guadalcanal Island’s north coast. The islands included in the two parallel chains are Vella Lavella, the New Georgia Islands, Savo, and Guadalcanal, with the four forming the southern chain, as well as Choiseul, Santa Isabel, and Malaita that form the northern chain. The chains converge at San Cristobal or the Makira Island.

The Solomon Islands can serve as a stepping stone in attaining higher education and obtaining an academic degree. While the country does have a rather limited list of accredited universities, it does compensate by providing in-depth training on a variety of subjects such as Agriculture, Business, Management, Finance & Banking, Administration, Education, Technology, Health, Nursing, Food & Nutrition, Tourism, Hospitality, and Accounting. Furthermore, the country’s official language is English, thus providing students with an opportunity to practice understanding and communicating in this widely spoken and international language. In addition to the previously-mentioned advantages, the country is also a suitable location to participate in volunteer programs or internships pertaining to the fields of Education, Ecology, Business, Tourism, and others. Also, the institutions of higher education in the country have relatively less costly tuition fees compared to countries such as Australia or Singapore. However, one should be aware that a student visa may be necessary, therefore proper planning should be done to avoid unwelcome issues.
