More details about the country
Slovakia, alternatively known as the Slovak Republic/ Slovenská Republika/Slovensko, is a sovereign landlocked country in Central Europe. The independent state shares borders with Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The capital of the country is Bratislava (alternatively known as Pozsony or Pressburg in German and Hungarian, respectively). The capital can be found along the bank of the Danube River where it cuts a gorge in the Little Carpathian Mountains.
Slovakia can be a worthwhile destination when it comes to studying abroad and obtaining an academic degree. To begin with, while the country can be said to have a relatively limited list of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compromise by providing in-depth training on a broad variety of subjects such as Economics, Management, Biology, Education, Philosophy, Nursing, Chemistry, Law & Jurisprudence, Information Technologies, and Physics. Furthermore, many of the universities have international recognition, including the Comenius University in Bratislava, which is featured in the 2020 QS World University Rankings. In addition, the tuition fees are relatively less costly compared to countries such as France, although they can vary greatly. Slovakia is also a suitable and comparatively safe destination to participate in internships or volunteer programs in the fields of Healthcare and Education. There may also be opportunities to participate via such programs in the fields of Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Tourism, Design, Logistics, Engineering, Information Technologies, Journalism, Agriculture, and others. However, students should bear in mind that not all study programs may be available in English.
