Sao Tome and Principe

Sao Tome and Principe, officially known as the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe/República Democrática de São Tomé e Príncipe/São Tomé e Príncipe, is a sovereign country in central Africa, located on the Equator’s line where the Gulf of Guinea is. It is comprised of two islands – the São Tomé, and the Príncipe, as well as several islets – Rôlas, Caroço, Pedras, and Tinhosas. The capital is São Tomé city located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. The closest neighbors are on the Atlantic coast of the central region of Africa, namely Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea.

The Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe can serve as a stepping stone in attaining higher education or an academic degree. While the country does have a relatively limited list of institutions of higher education, it compromises in that each of the universities in the list is properly accredited and internationally recognized and includes the option to participate in the Erasmus program. Furthermore, each of the universities can provide in-depth training on a variety of subjects such as Business, Humanities, Education, Architecture, Arts, Economy, Psychology, and others. Furthermore, Sao Tome and Principe is a suitable location to participate in internships and volunteer programs, especially in the field of Architecture. In addition, the country is a suitable location to practice communicating in a foreign language as the sovereign state’s official tongue is Portuguese. However, students should be aware that proper planning may be necessary as a student visa is often necessary and the procedure of acquiring the document can take time.
