More details about the country
Saint Lucia is an island and sovereign state located in the Caribbean Sea. It is the second-largest of the Lesser Antilles’ Windward group. The country is located about 24 miles to the south of Martinique and 21 miles to the northeast of Saint Vincent. It is a constitutional monarchy with a parliament consisting of two legislative chambers with Queen Elizabeth II acting as Head of State, represented by Sir Neville Cenac as Governor-General. The capital and main port of the state is Castries.
At a glance, the island and state of Saint Lucia might appear to be an unsuitable location to study abroad. However, the country can serve as a stepping stone in obtaining an academic degree and attain higher education. While the country does have a relatively limited list of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compromise by having internationally recognized universities providing in-depth training on a variety of subjects such as Medicine, Biology, Nursing, Chemistry, Management, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Psychology, and Health. In addition, the country’s official language is English, thus allowing students to practice communicating in one of the world’s most commonly spoken tongues. The country can also serve as a suitable location to participate in internships and volunteer programs pertaining to the fields of Physical Education, Education, Humanities, Business, Tourism, Hospitality, and Ecology. However, one should bear in mind that tuition fees can vary greatly depending on the institution of higher education and the study program of choice.
