Palau

Palau, alternatively known as Belau/Belu’u er a Belau/Pelew/the Republic of Palau, is a sovereign country situated in the western part of the Pacific Ocean. It is comprised of around 340 coral islands, with the archipelago lying in Micronesia’s southwest corner about 830 miles northeast of Guam, 400 miles south of New Guinea, and 550 miles west of the Philippines. The largest island of the archipelago is Babelthuap (Babeldaob) and is also the location of the capital, Melekeok. It is also among the most populous followed by Koror, Malakal, Arakabesan, and Peleliu.

The Republic of Palau can serve as a stepping stone in attaining higher education and obtaining an academic degree. While the country does have a limited range of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compensate by providing a broad range of subjects students can study in detail. In addition, tuition fees within the country tend to be less costly compared to countries such as Australia or New Zealand. Furthermore, one of the country’s official languages is English; it is also the tongue available for many study programs, thus permitting students to practice their foreign-language skills. The Republic of Palau is also a suitable location to participate in volunteer programs as a means of gathering data and practicing practical skills such as interpersonal communication, especially in the fields of Ecology, Engineering, Law, and others.
