    More details about the country

North Macedonia, alternatively known as Macedonia/Makedonija/Republic of North Macedonia/Republika Makedonija/The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, is a sovereign country situated in the south-central part of the Balkan Peninsula. Its neighbors include the countries of Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Albania. The capital of the country and one of its largest cities is Skopje (alternatively spelled as Shkup, Skoplje, Usküb, and in ancient times as Scupi) and can be found on the banks of the Vardar River. North Macedonia’s form of government is a unitary multiparty republic with a unicameral legislature.

The Republic of North Macedonia can be a worthwhile location to study abroad and obtain an academic degree. This is due to several contributing factors such as the range of available institutions of higher education and subjects, as well as tuition fee affordability, and opportunities to participate in volunteer projects and internships. North Macedonia has a relatively wide selection of accredited universities and fields of study. This includes popular institutions of higher education such as the Univerzitet Sv. Kiril i Metódij vo Skopje, and the Goce Delcev University of Štip. Among the fields of study which are frequently-favored are Economics, Law & Jurisprudence, Management, Business, Arts, Engineering, Marketing, Communication, Political Science, and Design. Furthermore, tuition fees tend to be less costly compared to other countries such as Belgium and France. Apart from the previously-mentioned advantages, the country is also a suitable location to participate in internships and volunteer programs, particularly in the fields of Education, Healthcare, Ecology, Journalism and Law.
