    Nigeria (not to be confused with Niger), officially known as the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is an independent country in West Africa. It shares land borders with Benin, Chad, Cameroon, and Niger. It has a coastline on the Gulf of Guinea which in turn gives it access to the Atlantic Ocean. The sovereign state is among the most populous countries in the world, ranking in 7th position. Nigeria is also a country rich in natural resources, with the primary one being petrol and natural gas. The country’s national capital is Abuja with Laos, the former capital, being the sovereign state’s leading port as well as a commercial and industrial center.

    Nigeria may also serve as a location to obtain an academic degree and attain higher education.
