Niger

Niger, officially known as the Republic of Niger or République du Niger, is a sovereign landlocked country in West Africa. Its neighbors include Algeria, Libya, Chad, Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Mali. The country’s capital is the city of Niamey and can be found along the banks of the river from which the sovereign state derives its name, the Niger River. Niger’s form of government is a republic with one legislative house, and the official language is French. Niger’s monetary unit is the CFA franc.

At a glance, Niger would appear as an unsuitable location to study abroad. However, the country can act as a stepping stone in attaining higher education. To begin with, while the country does have a limited number of accredited institutions of higher education, it does compensate by providing in-depth training on a variety of subjects such as Agriculture, Arts, Computer Science, Information Technologies, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Law & Jurisprudence, and Health. Furthermore, the country’s tuition fees tend to be less costly compared to countries such as Egypt, the USA or Saudi Arabia. As previously mentioned, the country’s official language is French due to its colonial history; as a result, students will be able to practice communicating and understanding one of the widely spoken and international languages, including during lectures as this tongue is the language of instruction.
