More details about the country
Nauru, alternatively known as Naoero or the Republic of Nauru, is a sovereign island country located in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean. It is comprised of a single raised coral island about 25 miles to the south of the Equator and about 800 miles to the northeast of the Solomon Islands. The closest neighbor is the island of Banaba, which is a part of the Republic of Kiribati and can be found about 200 miles east of the country. Nauru does not have an official capital, however the offices of the government can be found in the district of Yaren. The country’s form of government is a republic with one legislative house.
At a glance, Nauru would appear to be an unsuitable location to study abroad. However, the country can serve as a stepping stone in obtaining an academic degree and higher education. To begin with, while the country does have a limited number of universities (fewer than 10), it does compensate by providing in-depth training on subjects such as Arts, Law, Business, Technology, Science and others. Also, the country’s institutions of higher education have established relationships with international universities such as the University of the South Pacific, resulting in students being able to transfer into other countries or to continue their education. Apart from the previously-mentioned advantages, the Republic of Nauru is a country with relatively affordable tuition fees and costs of living. However, one should bear in mind that it may take some time to obtain a visa, therefore proper planning is necessary.
