Myanmar, alternatively known as Burma/Mranma Prañ/Myanma/Union of Myanmar/Pyihtaungsu Thamada Myanmar Naingngandaw (Republic of the Union of Myanmar, is an independent constitutional republic, situated in southeastern Asia. It shares borders with the sovereign states Laos, India, Bangladesh, China, and Thailand. Burma has a coastline on the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and is the second-largest country in southeastern Asia, preceded only by Indonesia. The capital of the country is Nay Pyi Taw, alternatively known as Nay Pyi Daw or Naypyidaw, and was constructed in the early 21st century as the sovereign state’s new center of administration.

Myanmar can be a worthwhile location to study abroad and obtain an academic degree. This is due to several contributing factors: an extensive list of available subjects and institutions of higher education, an opportunity to improve skills such as communication and understanding of foreign languages, and others. Myanmar is a country that has a rather exhaustive list of accredited and internationally recognized institutions of higher education and subjects that can be studied. For instance, the sovereign state has universities with fields of study such as Computer Science, Information Technologies, Business, Biology, Law & Jurisprudence, Philology, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Studies. These include the University of Computer Studies in Yangon, the Yangon Technological University, the Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University, and the University of Foreign Languages. The country, furthermore, is a suitable location to practice and learn foreign languages such as English or Burmese as the latter is the country’s official language, while the former was used during its colonial history and is also an available option for many of the study programs.
