More details about the country
Mauritania, officially known by its alternatives Al-Jumhūrīyah al-Islāmīyah al-Mūrītānīyah/Islamic Republic of Mauritania/Mūrītānīyā/Mauritanie/République Islamique de Mauritanie, is a sovereign country located on the Atlantic coast of Africa. Most of Mauritania’s 397,956 square miles of land can be found in the Sahara desert. The sovereign state has a certain amount of mineral wealth including considerable reserves of copper, iron ore, gypsum as well as a limited amount of oil which are in the process of being exploited. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania shares its borders with Western Sahara, Algeria, Mali, and Senegal. It has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean coastline and its capital is Nouakchott.
Mauritania can serve as a stepping stone in obtaining an academic degree as well as attaining higher education. This is due to several contributing factors including the country’s ability to provide in-depth training on a variety of subjects, its affordable tuition fees as well as the opportunities to practice skills such as foreign language skills as well as data gathering via internships and volunteer programs. While the country does have a relatively limited number of available institutions of higher education, it does compromise by offering an in-depth and thorough training on a range of subjects such as Administration, Environmental Studies, Philology, Business, Management, Finance & Banking, Sociology, History, Philosophy, and Media. In addition, each of the available universities has proper accreditation as well as affordable tuition fees. Apart from the previously-mentioned, Mauritania is a suitable location to study and practice Arabic, a widely spoken language in the Arab countries and one which is often necessary to properly communicate in fields of study such as Business and the professions associated with them. This is due to this language being the country’s official including the one which is used during tuition. The country has also many opportunities to participate in internship and volunteer programs, especially in the fields of Finance & Banking, Business, Engineering, Construction and others. This can be accomplished by participating in programs which focus on empowering women, providing education, assisting in the construction of structures and others. However, students should bear in mind that certain institutions of higher education and areas out of the campus may require following a strict dress code.
