More details about the country
The Maldives, in full Divehi Raajjeyge Jumhooriyyaa or the Republic of the Maldives, also referred to as the Maldive Islands, is an independent island country located in the north-central part of the Indian Ocean. It is a sovereign state consisting of a chain of around 1,200 small coral islands and sandbanks, grouped in atolls. Of these, the northernmost is about 370 miles to the south-southwest of the Indian mainland, while the central region where the capital island of Male is, stands about 400 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. Its form of government is a multiparty republic with one legislative house.
The Republic of the Maldives can be a suitable location to study abroad. This is due to several factors such as the broad range of available subjects, the competitive tuition fees, and the numerous opportunities to participate in different internships and volunteer programs. While the country does have a relatively limited of institutions of higher education, it does compromise by providing a wide range of subjects which can be studied in depth, including popular selections such as Accounting, Management, Education, Marketing, Information Technologies, Business, Finance & Banking, Law & Jurisprudence, Humanities, and Economics. In addition, the country’s institutions of higher education have tuition fees which are less costly compared to countries such as the United Kingdom. As already mentioned, the country offers numerous opportunities to hone practical skills such as communication via participating in an internship and/or volunteer programs, particularly in the fields of Tourism, Hospitality, Dentistry, and Medicine. However, students should bear in mind that not all programs may be available in foreign languages such as English. Also, certain institutions of higher education and out-of-campus areas may have a strict dress code that must be followed.
