    More details about the country

Kiribati, alternatively known as the Republic of Kiribati, is an island country located in the central Pacific Ocean. It consists of 33 islands, with only 20 of them inhabited and scattered over a vast area of the ocean. The country extends some 1,800 miles eastward from the 16 islands which make up the Gilbert Islands to the Line Islands, with islands of the Phoenix group lying in between. The capital and government centers of the country can be found at Ambo (legislative), Bairiki (executive), and Betio (judicial). All the mentioned islets are part of South Tarawa located in the northern Gilberts.

At a glance, Kiribati would seem a rather unsuitable location to study abroad. However, the country can serve as a stepping stone in preparing for attaining a higher education and obtaining an academic degree. To begin with, while the country does have a rather limited number of institutions of higher education and a similarly finite number of available subjects including Technology, Administration, and Philology, it does compensate by providing in-depth training as well as affordable tuition costs. In addition, the country is a suitable location to practice English as this language is the sovereign state’s official one including for government matters, everyday communication and during training programs. There are also many opportunities to participate in volunteer programs, especially in fields of study such as Community Development, Marine Conservation, Education, Business, Hospitality and others. As a result of such programs, students will be able to gain and hone practical skills such as communication, teamwork as well as data gathering.
