    More details about the country

Iraq is an independent country in southwestern Asia. It is one of the easternmost countries of the Arab world and shares its borders with Turkey, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The sovereign state has about 36 miles of coastline along the Persian Gulf’s northern end. Due to its small coastline, Iraq is the second Middle Eastern state with the least access to the sea and offshore sovereignty, with Jordan being the first. The capital of the country is Baghdad, alternatively spelled Bagdad, which is situated on the Tigris River.

Iraq can provide students seeking to study abroad and obtain an academic degree with certain advantages. To begin with, even though the country has a relatively limited number of universities (around 80 institutions of higher education), it does offer a wide selection of subjects on which to provide in-depth training. For instance, students can select to study Engineering, Law & Jurisprudence, Philology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Medicine, Administration, Education, Economics, and Pharmacy. In addition, while tuition fees can vary greatly depending on which institution of higher education a student has selected, they tend to be less costly compared to other countries such as the USA or Saudi Arabia. Similarly, everyday expenses with the exclusion of food are relatively affordable. The country is also a suitable location to practice Arabic, Kurdish and English. This is due to Arabic and Kurdish being the official languages of the country, whereas English is the language available for many of the tuition programs. The country also provides many opportunities to participate in volunteer programs, particularly ones associated with community development or humanitarian relief. However, institutions of higher education, especially ones specializing in Theology, may have a dress code which needs to be adhered to. Similarly, areas outside of the campus or residence have a rather strict code of dress.
