More details about the country
Guinea-Bissau, alternatively known as Portuguese Guinea or the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, is a country in western Africa which is located on the Atlantic coast. The country uses its capital's name, Bissau, to differentiate it from Guinea, one of its neighbours, Guinea. The country is also bounded by Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean. Within its 13,948 square miles of territory, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau includes the Bijagós (Bissagos) archipelago as well as other islands which lie off the country’s coast. The country’s form of government is a republic with one legislative house and the currency used is CFA franc.
At a glance Guinea-Bissau would appear as an unsuitable location to study abroad and obtain an academic degree. However, the country can act as a stepping stone in attaining a higher education. To begin with, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau can provide an in-depth training on several popular subjects such as Architecture, Management, Programming, Education, Earth Sciences, International Relations, Law & Jurisprudence, and Medicine at its limited number of universities. In addition, the country provides multiple opportunities for volunteering, particularly in the fields of Healthcare, Education, Community Development, Women Empowerment, Wildlife Conservation, Economy and others. In addition, Guinea-Bissau has relatively low tuition costs, especially when compared to other countries such as Egypt. The country is also a suitable location to practice and learn Portuguese as it is this sovereign state’s official language, including for government matters as well as during education courses. A student can also take advantage of learning Creole or its local dialect form.
