    More details about the country

Gabon, officially known as the Gabonese Republic or République Gabonaise, is a sovereign country that lies on the west coast of Africa on both sides of the Equator. It is a former French colony which has gained its independence in 1960. Yet, despite having gained its sovereignty the country still retains its strong ties to France including the former colonizer’s language and culture. Gabon shares its borders with the countries Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, and the Republic of the Congo. It also has a shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean. The capital of the Gabonese Republic is Libreville, a city located on the north shore of the Gabon Estuary.

To all appearances, the Gabonese republic would seem like an unsuitable location for studying abroad and obtaining an academic degree. However, Gabon can serve as a stepping stone in attaining a higher education while providing invaluable insight into the cultures of Africa. While the country has fewer than 20 universities and a limited number of available subjects including Administration, Management, Business, Engineering, Earth Sciences, International Relations, Biological, Finance & Banking, Communication, it does compensate by providing in-depth training at moderate tuition fees. Furthermore, it also provides several opportunities to acquire and hone practical skills such as data gathering, research, and interpersonal communication via volunteer programs. For instance, a student with an interest in and/or studying Ecology or Biological can participate for instance in Wildlife conservation projects such as assisting in gathering data about endangered species. Similarly, a student of Education can provide aid by teaching a foreign language in addition to practicing their own skill in understanding and communicating in French.
