    More details about the country

The Republic of Fiji, often referred to as Fiji or Viti, is both a country and archipelago located in the South Pacific Ocean. It surrounds the Koro Sea, which can be found about 1,300 miles north of Auckland, New Zealand. It consists of about 300 islands and 540 islets scattered over 1,000,000 square miles with only around 100 of the islands inhabited. The capital of the sovereign state, Suva, can be found on the southeast coast of the largest island, Viti Levu (“Great Fiji”). Said island has an area of about 4,000 square miles, accounting for more than half of Fiji’s land area. The country’s form of government is a republic with one legislative house and their currency is the Fijian dollar. The countries or islands closest to the country that can be considered as neighbors include New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Samoas, and Kermadec.

The Republic of Fiji can be a worthwhile choice to study abroad. This is due to the sovereign state providing several advantages apart from its diverse culture and natural beauty. To begin with, tuition fees are less costly when compared to other countries such as Belgium or Australia. The same applies to everyday expenses such as traveling and food, which in turn can allow a student to study the subject of their choice without significantly depleting their savings. Similarly, many of the institutions of higher education in the sovereign state have dormitories or can assist with finding suitable housing. In regards to the available fields of study, the country’s universities offer a wide range of courses. This includes popular selections such as Medicine, Agriculture, Mathematics, Technology, Education, Business, Economics, Arts, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, and Tourism. In addition to the previously-mentioned, Fiji is a suitable location to practice and learn English as it is the main language used in many of the courses. Lastly, the Republic of Fiji’s institutions of higher education can provide graduate students wishing to obtain a Ph.D. with state-of-the-art research facilities, which also have international recognition.
