Eritrea is a sovereign country of the Horn of Africa, located on the coats of the Red Sea. It is a country which has recently begun to develop its economy even though it has gained its independence in 1993. This mostly due to the many conflicts the sovereign state has suffered resulting in wide-spread poverty and neglect. The sovereign state's capital and largest city is Asmara, otherwise known as Asmera. The country shares its borders with Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Sudan. Its current form of government is a transitional regime with one interim legislative house.
The country of Eritrea can provide students with an interesting experience. While the country itself has between five and six universities, it can serve as a stepping stone in fields of study such as Business, Medicine, Arts, and Agriculture. Among the universities which are gaining popularity and which can accept international and local students is the University of Asmara as well as the Eritrea Institute of Technology. There is also the Asmara College of Health Sciences and the College of Arts and Social Sciences. The country can also help students in studying Anthropology and Philology as it has several large ethnic groups each speaking their own distinct language, allowing students to gather valuable research data.
