Egypt is a sovereign country located at the northeast corner of Africa on the Mediterranean Sea. The country shares borders with Libya, Sudan, the Red Sea, and Israel. It is a popular tourist site due to its interesting nature and ancient history. The sovereign country has several major geographical areas. These are the Nile Valley which is home to most of Egypt’s agricultural lands. There is also the Western Desert which occupies about two-thirds of the country and has natural resources such as gems, coal and oil. Lastly, there is the Sinai Peninsula which is a plateau linked to the north-eastern corner of Egypt. It has the most rugged mountainous terrain in the country. The capital of country is Cairo, which is also one of the largest centers of commerce and the location of many museums.
