    More details about the country

Djibouti, formerly known as French Somaliland, is a small strategically located country on the northeast coast of the Horn of Africa. It can be found on the Bab el Mandeb Strait - strip of land that separates the Red Sea from the Gulf of Aden. The country took on the name of Djibouti when it gained its independence in 1977. The capital of the sovereign state, Djibouti city, is the site of a deep-water port that serves the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. It is built on coral reefs that jut into the southern entrance of the gulf, and is bounded by Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

The country can serve as a stepping stone in attaining a higher education even though at a glance, it appears to be quite an unlikely location. While the sovereign state does have one university, it can provide subjects such as Biological, Building and Construction, Business, Management, Finance & Banking, Administration, Computer Science, IT, Engineering and Earth Sciences. The country is also a suitable location to practice French and Arabic as these languages are the official ones used for both day-to-day matters as well as official/government documents. French is also the tongue during tuition. Besides these benefits, there are also many volunteer programs that can help with practicing skills and expanding knowledge. Many of these programs are initiated and managed by international organizations such as the Red Cross and pertain to subjects such as Healthcare, Education, or Ecology. This is accomplished by assisting with health and sanitation including educating different age groups, teaching foreign languages or assisting with wildlife conservation and humanitarian emergency care.
