More details about the country
Croatia, also known by the name of Hrvatska, is an independent country on the Balkan Peninsula. It is a sovereign state which was once a part of Yugoslavia until the federation’s disintegration in the 1990s. Despite the significant blow which the disintegration had caused in the beginning, Croatia is a country highly developed both educationally and economically, with the literacy rate being 98.1%. Zagreb, located along the Sava river, is the sovereign state’s capital as well as the largest city.
Croatia has a rather long-standing history of providing higher education. For instance, the country has one of the oldest universities, the University of Zadar which was founded in 1396. It also has the University of Zagreb, established in 1669, which is also one of the institutions in the country frequently attended by both native and international students. Apart from these two universities, the sovereign state has an additional 23 institutions of higher education which can be attended by foreign students. Each of the academies in the list offers a wide range of subjects, with some placing focus on health and scientific research, as well as technology. One such example is the Ruder Boskovic Institute which places emphasis on natural and biomedical sciences as well as marine and environmental research. Many of the institutions, if not all of them, also offer programs in other fields of study including Business, Economics, Management, Computer Science, Nursing, Arts, Law & Jurisprudence, Humanities, and Agriculture. Apart from the previously-mentioned, Croatia furthermore offers the advantage of honing foreign-language skills due to many of the programs being available in English as well as having the option to learn Croatian, the country’s official language.
