More details about the country
Chile is a country situated in South America and is the longest country on the continent due to its approximately 2,700 miles of extending territory. It shares boundaries with Peru and Bolivia, as well as Argentina. Its western border is the Pacific Ocean and it exercises sovereignty over Easter Island, the Juan Fernández Archipelago, and the volcanic islets of Sala y Gómez, San Félix, and San Ambrosio, all of which are located in the South Pacific. Chile is a country of diverse geographical features: at the northern end of the country is the Atacama Desert; there is also the Central Valley which is otherwise known as the Longitudinal Valley, a 40- to 45-mile-wide plain made up of a vast thickness of heavily mineralized alluvial soils. Further south, the relief turns into thick forests and lakes before altering into a string of islands off the mainland’s southern tip.
