More details about the country
Chad is a landlocked sovereign state located in north-central Africa and one of the continent’s largest countries, placing at 5th place. It is also one of the most sparsely populated, with a density of 32.7 people per square mile as of 2018. It shares borders with Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Niger. The country’s terrain consists of a shallow basin that gradually rises in elevation with mountains rimming it to the north, east, and south. The land is irrigated via the Chari and Logone rivers as well as their tributaries, which flow into Lake Chad. The capital of the country is N’Djamena, formerly known as Fort-Lamy.
Chad can serve as a stepping stone in acquiring an academic degree. This is due to the country providing a limited number of universities which compensate by providing a range of subjects such as Arts, Management, Education, Sociology, Political Science, Humanities, Law & Jurisprudence, Health, Communication, and Economics. In addition, tuition fees are less expensive, which can be quite advantageous for restricted budgets. There is furthermore the opportunity to master foreign languages such as French and Arabic, which are the country’s two official languages. Volunteer projects are also available in the country and help when applying for other institutions. Examples of such projects include providing healthcare services and health education, assisting with orphaned children, teaching different age groups, promoting peace and equal rights, especially for women. However, one should bear in mind that certain areas of the country may be unsafe. Therefore, proper care should be taken to inform oneself in advance.
