    More details about the country

Cabo Verde (alternative name: Cape Verde) is an independent country consisting of ten islands along with various islets. It is located 385 miles from the west coast of the continent Africa and is named after the westernmost cape of Africa of the same name. It is among the smallest of countries in the world in terms of total territorial areas as it has a total of 1,557 square miles of land. Of the ten islands which make up the country, nine of them are inhabited, including Santiago where the capital, Praia, is located. The sovereign state is known as a popular tourist site as well as a fueling station location since the 19th century. This is due to the deep-water harbor in Mindelo on the Sao Vincente island which is capable of accommodating sizable vessels.

Cape Verde can be an excellent choice when it comes to obtaining an academic degree and studying abroad. This is due to several reasons including the range of available subjects and opportunities related to skills such as learning or practicing foreign languages. To begin with, while the country does have a relatively limited number of available higher education institutions, it does compensate by providing a rather extensive list of subjects. This includes fields such as Business, Management, Accounting, Tourism, Health, Law & Jurisprudence, Hospitality, and Education as well as Economics, Political Science, Architecture, Technology, Psychology, Communication, Design, Environmental Studies, Medicine, Finance & Banking. In addition to the variety of subjects, the sovereign state can also offer an opportunity to obtain a Ph.D. with the recommended institution being the University of Cape Verde. Apart from the impressive list of study programs a student can choose from, the country also provides an opportunity to hone one’s foreign-language skills. For instance, while the official language is Portuguese, Crioulo, one of Creole’s oldest dialects, is also widely spoken. As a result, students can master the art of speaking more than one foreign language, which can be of great help in many fields and professions, especially within sectors related to tourism and business. There are also plenty of opportunities to participate in volunteer programs through organizations such as SOS Tartarugas and Worldwide Volunteering. Examples of such programs include promoting sustainable tourism, protecting the country’s wildlife, and others. However, while Cabo Verde can provide such advantages, one should bear in mind that tuition fees can vary greatly. Therefore, care should be taken to call the different universities well in advance.
