More details about the country
Barbados is a continental island often said to have the shape of a pear. It is located in North Atlantic Ocean and is often considered to be the easternmost island of the lesser Antilles in the West Indies. It lies about 62 miles from the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea and has a maritime area of 72,162 square miles. The total area of the island itself amounts to to 167 square miles. From west to east the terrain rises from coastal lowlands to rolling hills to a central highland region which culminates into the island's highest point, Mount Hillaby, at 1,120 feet. The eastern third of the island, in contrast, rises sharply into low hills. The country’s largest city, Bridgetown, is also the capital as well as the main seaport.
While Barbados is highly recommended as a tourist site, it can also serve as a stepping stone in advancing one's education by obtaining a degree. This is due to the country providing a relatively wide range of programs that a student can choose from. Popular ones include Tourism, Business, Administration, Education, Technology, Sociology, Law & Jurisprudence, Medicine, Health, Nursing, Dentistry, and Economics. There are also programs in Arts, with music being a highly favored choice. However, one should keep in mind a certain fact which could act as a setback: tuition fees can be rather costly particularly for foreign students. Also, you should prepare documents well in advance, especially when it comes to applying for a student visa as such a document is necessary to apply and study in the country.
