    More details about the country

Austria is among Europe’s popular and often-visited countries. It is a sovereign state which has a rich and interesting history due to its crossroad location within the south-central part of the European continent. It was once a part of the large Austro-Hungarian Empire with its capital, Vienna acting as the heart. It is a small landlocked country the territory of which consists mostly of mountains and majestic forests with the Alps forming the backbone. However, the country also includes in its beauty the regality and interesting character of the River Danube’s banks. Said river winds its way through the eastern edge of the Alps and the hills of Bohemia and Moravia, crossing through the city of Vienna. The capital itself is home to quite a few regal and breathtaking buildings including famous cathedrals and museums.

Apart from being a popular tourist destination, Austria is also a country often sought out for its opportunities to obtain an academic degree. Several are the factors that result in this small yet rich in history sovereign state being a favored location for students. Among these factors is the fact that the country is among the safest to live and study in, ranking at 8th place in the global rank list. In addition, Austria has a long-standing tradition of providing high-quality education. For instance, one of the oldest universities in the sovereign state, the Universität Wien, or University of Vienna, was founded in 1365, making it one of the oldest in both Europe and the German-speaking world. Said university is also among the highest-ranking and recommended in terms of Humanities and has been the academic home of many scholars of both historical and academic importance including 20 Nobel prize winners. Likewise, many of the 68 institutions in the country have been the academic home of many students and/or scholars who have contributed to the world after completing their studies. This applies particularly for Arts or Humanities. However, there are plenty of high-quality programs pertaining to areas such as Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management, and others. One should, in particular, consider focusing on studies related to the food, machine, steel, chemical, vehicle, electric, electronic, wood or paper industries as there tend to be plenty of job opportunities in these branches, especially within Austria.
