More details about the country
Angola is among Africa’s rapidly rising economic powerhouses. It is a country located within Southern Africa and was a former Portuguese colony. It has a total land area of 481,400 sq mi which consists of four principal regions. These are as follows: a coastal lowland which stretches for 100 miles at most, a belt of rolling hills and scattered mountains with the highest point of the country being in the Ahaggar Mountains (Morro de Moco at 8,592 ft.). These are followed by an elevated high plateau or planalto which rises 4,000 to 6,000 ft. and lies to the east of this belt of hills and mountains. The vast plateau takes up the larger part of Angola's terrain. The final region which makes up and completes the geography of the country is a vast rain forest. It has a population of 25,789,024 with many living in the capital of Luanda.
Angola is often a popular choice when it comes to higher education. This is due to the impressive array of 53 institutions from which a student can choose based on their chosen field of study. Among the popular institutions are the Agostinho Neto University in Luanda, the Catholic University of Angola, and the Jean Piaget University of Angola. Popular choices when it comes to fields of study include Economics, Management, Engineering, Law & Jurisprudence and Computer Science. Quite a few excellent opportunities may also be found in the fields of Medicine and Agriculture as these are quite prevalent in the country and often sought after in that they provide a chance to work in the oil, agricultural or medical industry. Apart from being present at the university of choice for the lectures, students can also opt for experimental distance learning models with the option to provide feedback in order to improve the model. This can be quite advantageous when commuting every day to the university’s location may not be available or worthwhile. It should be noted that while the country provides quite a few opportunities, there may be certain setbacks when it comes to applying for a visa or tuition fees, as not all universities are affordable for the ones who have budget restrictions or apply late for a visa. Due to such risks, it is important that proper care is taken to inform oneself in advance; this includes calling the universities in advance to inquire about fees. And applying for the visa well in advance.
